The Chautauqua Festival Creative Writing Contest is closed for new submissions, but the best part is still to come: an awards ceremony with guest author/editor/podcaster Rae Garringer. (The ceremony and guest reading, held at Wytheville’s historic Millwald Theater, are free and open to everyone.) time on June 26 to hear from the winners and Rae Garringer.

The Highland Summer Conference at Radford University returns! This weeklong writing workshop is set for July 20-24 with a very special guest instructor: poet, editor, and teacher Marianne Worthington. To enroll in the workshop as a participant, check out RU’s estore here.

Reading with Guest Author Marianne Worthington is set for Tuesday, July 21, from 7:30-8:30, in Hemphill Hall 1016. (Use the street-side entrance to Hemphill Hall.) Includes a free reception and a book-signing with Marianne.

Fall 2026

Corridors Conference returns to Radford University on Saturday, September 16. This year’s theme will be Writing Home: Where the Power of Place Meets the Page.” I will deliver the keynote address, “Music of Many Voices: Exploring Home, Identity, and Voice through Writing.” This event is free, and registration opens on July 1st.
